Enterprise Content Management
Most SharePoint users start with document libraries. The lightbulb moment often happens when you realize how much more efficient it is to collaborate on a versioned document in a library...rather than via email attachments!
But if -- like many SharePoint users -- this is as far as you've taken it, we should talk. To the core document collaboration features of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, MOSS 2007 adds two brand new and important capabilities: records management, and web content management.
IMG's ECM practice can help your organization build out your content management platform, including collaborative document management, records management, and web content management
Here's a quick summary of the most important new features, and why you should care:
This area is most users' introduction to SharePoint, and often the primary reason an organization implements SharePoint in the first place. SharePoint 2007 has dramatic improvements over the previous version, and we can help you put them to work. Some of the most important new features of the core WSS 3 platform include robust versioning, option of requiring check-outs, item-level permisssions, great integration with Office 2007, and workflows. We can help you understand the importance of these, and help you put them to work for your organization.
This is a brand new capability in MOSS 2007, and will help you manage and track your most important organizational records. And with the recently announced certification of MOSS 2007 for DOD 5015, many organizations will now be taking a hard look at these features. We can help you implement manual or automated (via workflows) submission of documents to a managed document repository, and configure routing and organization of those records. We can help you set up rules and implement tracking corporate email as records, and set retention and expiration policies. The new platform has robust auditing and reporting capabilities, and will provide a platform for regulatory compliance and legal requirements solutions, using the tools you use every day.
This rounds out the ECM suite, and is a great new feature in MOSS 2007. Finally, you'll be able to have a single platform for ALL of your web content: intranet, public-facing Internet, or authenticated access to extranets. We can help you customize the built-in workflows for authoring, approval, and deployment. And your non-technical content authors can have simple, browser-based content creation tools. We can help you brand and customize your Internet sites, and help you with important optimization issues, from basic architectural issues to setting up caching profiles.
In fact, this site is a good example of what you can do using MOSS 2007 for an Internet presence site -- we've got a few recorded tutorials on the topic at the Learning Point if you'd like to learn more.
